The Sandia Peak Tramway
A lot of people tend to think New Mexico means nothing but flat desert land. However, nothing could be further from the truth. The Continental Divide is located in New Mexico, and because of this fact, New Mexico is home to a lot of stunning mountain ranges and landmarks.
Near Albuquerque, you can get a stunning overview of many mountain peaks by visiting the Sandia Peak Tramway. But it’s not just mountain peaks you get a look at. The tramway brings you up above deep canyons and rocky cliff faces. Bring a good camera because you will have an amazing 2.7 miles of gorgeous terrain to take photos of.
There are different times that you can take the tramway, and each moment will bring something unique to the experience. During the day, you will see the hot rocks in all their glory while stubborn vegetation grows in the seemingly most impossible of places. During sunset, desert skies transform into a beautiful array of colors. Once at the top, you will have a panoramic view of the Rio Grande Valley and the Land of Enchantment.
There is an observation deck allowing for plenty of photo opportunities, but in case you decide to have a bit of something to eat, you can find something tasty at the single restaurant at the top of Sandia Peak. But you are also free to bring your own snacks, and always have water handy.
Sandia Peak Tramway is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and is something that the entire family can enjoy and won’t soon forget!
