Albuquerque Balloon Festival 2013
Looking to make your sky more colorful? The annual Albuquerque Balloon Festival is an excellent way to make your day more fun and exciting. Not only will the sky be filled with balloons, but there are dozens of other ways that you can have a ball while at the festival!
Every morning starting October 5, the balloons will light up for an early morning glow as they slowly fill up with hot air. Eventually they take off into the sky for a beautiful display that will not only show a variety of colors, but shapes as well. You never know when you might spot a dragon or even a house!
As the balloons float over the city, you can watch other events on the ground, such as chainsaw carving events during the day and fireworks shows at night (after the balloons have all landed, of course!). All over the ground, you will find vendors offering delicious foods, fun souvenirs, and all sorts of activities.
Start planning your stay early because the Balloon Festival draws a huge crowd every year. You will want to know what days to go, what you want to see, and know how to get there from your hotel in order to make events on time and see everything you hoped throughout the festival. Don’t worry if you can’t arrive directly on October 5 – the festival stretches until the final farewell date of October 13.
It’s hard not to have a good time watching big, colorful balloons race each other, show off their coolest shapes, and twinkle on the ground after the sun goes down.
