Shapes Across the Sky: All About Albuquerque’s Balloon Fiesta
Every year Albuquerque is lucky enough to play host to what has become a fantastical delight to all those around – the Albuquerque Balloon Festival. Or as you may hear some call it, the Balloon Fiesta!
There’s a little something for everyone at the festival – from balloon rides to late night glows; it’s a full day of fun for entire families. Whether you live in Albuquerque or just happen to be visiting, being in the city during the Balloon Festival is a perfect time to experience the best of what the city has to offer.
Each day there are various activities and events that you can attend. There are balloon rides, inflation races (who can blow up their balloon first?), chainsaw carving contests, morning glow moments, fireworks shows, car shows, flying competitions, special shape competitions, musical entertainment, and more. Kids and adults alike will have a grand time at the fiesta. Special shape competitions can be particularly fun because you never know what you might see. From pandas to space shuttles, castles to ladybugs, the sky is the limit!
You can also get even more involved by requesting to become a part of the crew. Chase crews help pilots inflate and deflate balloons, as well as follow them as they float through the sky to help them once they land. Multiple nations are represented at the Balloon Fiesta, so you never know what part of the world a balloon is from!
Kick back and enjoy all of the different balloon events, or stroll through the fields to watch them expand in the early evening, or the soft glow of them at night. You can always pop back into the city for a meal or buy something from one of the many vendors that sell delicious goodies at the Fiesta. The Balloon Festival starts on October 4th, so start arranging your visit to Albuquerque today!
