Family Friendly Travel Ideas in Albuquerque
Taking a vacation the whole family will enjoy isn’t always easy these days. There are lots of sites to see and things to do in Albuquerque, but are any of them family friendly? Absolutely! Here are some places you may want to consider adding to your list if you’re headed here for a family vacation.
Albuquerque Aquarium: There’s nothing better than spending a day with the kids at this amazing aquarium. It’s packed with plants and creatures of all shapes and sizes including sting rays, bamboo sharks, and even barracudas. What’s more, though, is that the aquarium strives to highlight the journey of plants and creatures along the Rio Grande toward the Gulf of Mexico, so there are lots to see and learn here.
Explora Science Center: Kids love hands-on stuff, and there’s not a better place in the city than this one for a hands-on experience. Here your kids can create animated movies, ride a bike on a high wire, and even figure out how to build the best possible marble run. The museum regularly runs special events, too, so watch for them as you plan your visit. What’s more, though, is that it’s very close to a number of other museums, so you can make a day of it.
Old Town: This is the most historic place in Albuquerque. Initially founded in the early 1700s, there’s much to see and do here. With great shops and restaurants, it’s the perfect outing. They even stage mock gunfights every Sunday afternoon. Be sure to stop by the Rattlesnake Museum while you’re here. It’s packed with more species of live snakes under one roof than you can find anywhere else in the United States.
There’s so much to see and do for families throughout the city. Be sure to do your research before you come or ask the concierge at your hotel about a few of the best places to go for the whole family.
