Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival
Are you ready for a bit of Celtic entertainment this spring? The Rio Grande Valley Celtic Festival is the place for all things Celtic. From Highland games to Celtic inspired music, this festival features a veritable wealth of delights all coming from Celtic nations. Scots, Welsh, Irish, Bretons, Galicians, and Britons have all brought something special to America, and now it time to celebrate these cultural highlights and marvel at how they have blended with today’s culture so that we may experience all the delights we have now.
The Celtic Festival will feature ongoing music from a wide variety of styles and instruments. Harps, pipes, and much more will be played by those with amazing skills. Families with history rooted in Celtic nations will bring their knowledge forth and give everyone a glimpse into the past, as well as showcase crafts, food, and more from the present.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper festival without some games! There are several athletic activities in which to participate, such as the caber toss, Scottish hammer throw, stone put, weight over bar, and more. The festival will also feature the Celtic 7s rugby tournament, so be ready for a rollicking good time!
This festival celebrating all things celtic will take place at Balloon Fiesta Park on May 17 and 18. The activities begin at 9:00 am and remain open until 5:00 pm. Adults are $15 for a single-day pass or $20 for a two-day pass. Children 6-14 for one day are $7 and $10 for two days. Children under 6 years of age are free.
