At the Hotel Andaluz, we care about the environment and our impact on it. We take pride in being one of the “greenest” hotels in the country. From our recycled renovation materials to water efficient landscaping, Hotel Andaluz conserves resources and energy whenever possible. Our Albuquerque hotel uses 21% less energy than traditional buildings by using solar heated water, high performance windows, fluorescent and LED lighting, and energy management sensors in all guest rooms. We recycle cardboard, paper, plastic, glass, metal and we compost all food waste. At Hotel Andaluz, we are committed to protecting the environment.
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council to provide standards for environmentally sustainable construction. Andaluz has become Gold LEED certified and has become the only LEED-certified hotel in New Mexico and one of the very few in the country.
The LEED rating system addresses six major areas:
- sustainable sites
- water efficiency
- energy and atmosphere
- materials and resources
- indoor environmental quality
- innovation and design process
